On October 14, 2015, the Town of Essex was honored at the Clean Energy Communities (CEC) Awards Ceremony at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford. According to Energyize Connecticut, from January 2010 to July 2015 Essex has saved 2 ,051,115 kilowatt-hours of electricity and 8,539 cubic feet of natural gas through a number of initiatives.

At the ceremony were (from left) EPA Office of Ecosystem Protection Deputy Director Lynne Hamjian, CT Department of Energy and Environment Protection Commissioner Robert Klee, United Illuminating Company’s Patrick McDonnell, CT State Representative Phil Miller, Essex Clean Energy task force member Rick Stebbins, Eversource Executive Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer David McHale, Essex Clean Energy task force co-chair Stacy Abbott and Connecticut Green Bank CEO Bryan Garcia.
